Weaving the Wasco Way: Making Sally Bags

Sally bags

Weave culture, history, and creativity into every stitch.

This hands-on workshop is a rare opportunity to learn the Wasco flat-bottom weaving technique—from a true tradition bearer. Under the guidance of Valerie Switzler, you’ll get started on your own cotton/twin Sally Bag, and explore the cultural roots of this iconic style. A potluck will keep your hands busy and your stomach full!

Community Potluck!

potluck 1800's style

Nothing says community like a potluck. Breaking bread while building bridges, so to speak.  This workshop will include a potluck, a chance to talk about what you are learning, share experiences, and get to know one another. We'll supply the main protein. Please bring something along to share with your neighbors!

A beloved teacher and master weaver, Valerie brings deep knowledge, cultural integrity, and a warm heart to everything she does.
