In this interactive workshop, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of horse behavior and communication through the lens of Lucinda Bakers’s Being Herd program and Horse Speak®. We’ll explore the science and language of horses, focusing on presence and connection when working with your herd. Using a mix of videos, slides, and live horse demonstrations, you’ll see firsthand how horses communicate and respond to their environment. Whether you’re new to horsemanship or looking to refine your skills, this session will offer valuable insights into the world of equine connection.

Pre-register for the next session of this workshop. No charge! You will be charged once we get at least 5 pre-registrants and you agree to the date of the workshop. You'll be first in line and we'll work with you on the date.
Get into your horse’s head (without spooking them). We’ll break down the latest in equine science to understand how horses think, feel, and communicate, using live demonstrations to bring theory to life.
Horses have their own language—it’s time to learn it. Through Horse Speak® techniques, you’ll practice exercises that help you communicate with clarity and confidence, reducing confusion and frustration for both you and your horse.
Good relationships start with understanding. We’ll explore ways to build mutual trust, helping you develop a calmer, more responsive partnership with your horse through guided reflection and hands-on learning.
Nothing makes you hungry like talking horse science! Bring a dish, and bond with your like-minded neighbors. We bring the main, you bring the rest! At School of Ranch, our product is education, but our purpose is community building. We create common ground for people regardless of politics, age, background, or belief.
Lucinda Baker has a deep understanding of horses, built through decades of hands-on experience, study, and in-depth research into what makes them tick. At heart, she is both a researcher and a teacher, always eager to share what she’s learned. Her work is grounded in equine ethology, neuroscience, neurochemistry, emotion, learning, and memory—the core components of what she calls The Equine Mandala. This framework explores the science behind how horses think, feel, learn, and communicate, bridging the gap between academic research and practical application. Her training philosophy is rooted in positive reinforcement and operant conditioning, with no use of dominance or fear-based methods.
