Not only will you build confidence in your basket weaving skills, but you’ll also gain a deeper appreciation for one of the region's most iconic trees. You'll leave with your handmade basket, a weaving needle, cordage, a gauge—and the know-how to keep weaving at home.
When: We'll schedule when 7 people pre-register!
Where: Bend/Sisters
Price: $65 + $10 materials fee
Pre-register for the next session of this workshop. No charge! You will be charged once we get at least 7 pre-registrants and you agree to the date of the workshop. You'll be first in line and we'll work with you on the date.
You’ll start by identifying and preparing Ponderosa Pine needles, then practice the art of coiling—a technique used for generations. Madeline will guide you step-by-step so you can gain confidence creating your very own pine needle basket.
Every participant will leave with their basket, darning needle, cordage, and gauge—plus the skills to keep crafting. Whether you want to make more for gifts or enjoy quiet evenings weaving at home, you’ll be ready.
Madeline is a community-rooted educator and herbalist who blends deep ecology, traditional skills, and hands-on healing arts. Certified in reflexology, permaculture, and herbalism—with over 2,000 hours of herbal training and counting—she shares her knowledge through workshops on basketry, wild foods, and natural remedies. Whether leading plant walks or teaching through craft, Madeline fosters meaningful connections between people and place.
This workshop is presented in partnership with PineWillow Wildcrafts and is Madeline's small Central Oregon business, offering hands-on workshops, local plant walks, herbal home remedies, and more. Her dedication to sustainable gathering and place-based learning makes her a natural fit with School of Ranch for this hands-on, nature-rooted experience.
